Ven. Karandulena Dammagaveshi Thero is a senior Buddhist monk and a renowned meditation teacher from Sri Lanka. He is the Chief Incumbent of Kasspa Arana Meditation Association and also Kasspa Arana Retreat Hermitage at Thuntota, Kegalle, Sri Lanka. Dammagaveshi Thero has been practicing deep forest monastic tradition in Sri Lanka for more than 17 years. He is being invited by Sri Lankan communities in number of countries who organize Dhamma sermons and talks for the public with the pure intention of providing guidance to people for the practice of the Noble Eightfold Path with the ultimate aim of realizing the Four Noble truths to attain Nibbana. With the wisdom of the Budhdha’s Dhamma and through their own experiences, Ven. Dammagaveshi Thero is highly talented in bringing lay people into a deep understanding of Vipassana meditation and Dependent Origination (Paticca-Samuppada) as he explains these deep Dhamma chapters in simple language.
Ven. Dammagaveshi Thero was admitted to Higher Ordination, 'Úpasampadava' in Theravada Tradition in the year 2006. After 2 years of deep forest monastic meditation practices, he decided to share Buddha’s noble Dhamma to people who wish to end the suffering of the human faces; suffering of a physical kind, or of a mental nature.
At Kassapa Arana Australia and Sri Lanka, Ven. Dammagaveshi Thero works as the advisor and mentor for resident monks and the Buddhist community including a large number of families in Australia. As a meditation teacher, he has traveled to many destinations teaching Dhamma and meditation practices to various groups. Buddhist communities have identified Ven. Dammagaveshi Thero as a well-versed spiritual leader, followed by a wider audience of disciples throughout Australia and abroad.
